SHIPPING SMALL BOATS JUST GOT EASIER

  • Simply roll out tubes, cut to length with a box cutter, slide boat inside, twist tie ends
  • Provides longer term storage for both dealers and end customers
  • Boat packaging allows for nesting boats together meaning more boats per truckload
  • Our single bubble material and double bubble has been proven to have the lowest damage rates on polyethelene boats

After years of watching shipping damage caused by common freight carriers, we decided to offer shipping packaging material specifically designed for the unique task of shipping small boats. The actual damage costs are small compared to the long term loss of our reputation. Our main objective with this project is to increase our level of service associated with shipping boats and create repeat customers that will buy boats again from us in the future.

Given the fact that we are the number one seller of small boats over the internet we have the unique ability to analyze shipping damage percentages from many boat manufacturers. We have studied most every method of packaging boats and have taken a statistical analysis approach to the problem. After careful review we feel our packaging material is the most cost effective way to protect small boats. We have analyzed costs from a damage percentage rate, damage repair cost, factory labor rate and raw material cost. We found out what material was best then conducted our own tests confirming our findings. Our sleeves are simple, economical and tough. We would like a chance to improve both of our respective businesses by improving the way our boats are packaged. If you have any questions concerning the packaging please feel free to call me personally.

Other methods, their pros and cons.

Boxes; You can't stack them efficiently, so therefore your shipping cost per unit soars. Secondly you still need to use packaging material inside the box to protect it. If you have a perfect box per boat, the warehouse space and amount of different sizes required to inventory is tremendous, not to mention guessing how many of which boats will sell.

Wood Crates; Same as boxes on multiple lots, and on single shipments costs are very high. The added weight and bulkiness causes the freight rates to triple or quadruple. Freight carriers love them, they can lift it with a fork lift and generally not damage it.

Corrugated Cardboard wrapped; More economical material, but the labor to apply is high. Requires a lot of time to do it right. Many factories will double wrap and then cover with a poly bag. Damage happens when the bag tears and the cardboard sections fall out.
